Q: Where do I get the VidCalc
iPhone* App?
A: Using your iPhone*, press the App Store* icon.
Search for VidCalc. Or look for it under the Utilities category.
Q: What does the Video Calculator do?
A: It lets you easily find video file sizes given bitrates and
duration. It also lets you figure out what video and audio encoding
parameters to use for a given output file size. And you can find
aspect ratios and dimensions of videos.
Q: How can I find out how big my video
file will be?
A: Select the BitrateCalc Tab Button at the bottom of the screen.
Enter the video duration, the video bitr ate and the audio bit rate
you are planning to use. Leave the File Size field empty and touch
the Calculate button.
Q: How do I make the output video file
size no bigger than 100 MB ?
A: Select the BitrateCalc Tab Button at the bottom of the screen.
enter the 100 (or any desired file size) in the File Size field.
Enter the video duration and a recommended 96 in the audio bit rate
field. Touch the Calculate button. The desired video bit rate
appears in the Video Bitrate field. Enter both audio and video bit
rates in your video encoding software.
Q: How can I tell what aspect ratio my
video is?
A: Select the AspectCalc Tab Button at the bottom of the screen.
Enter the Width and the Height of the video. Touch the Calculate
button and the aspect ratio will be displayed in the Aspect Ratio
field.
Q: How do I keep the aspect ratio
constant as I resize my video?
A: Select the AspectCalc Tab Button at the bottom of the screen.
Enter the original video's width and height and touch Calculate.
Read the aspect ratio field. If you know the desired width, enter
it. Touch and clear the Height field and touch Calculate to get the
desired height. If you know the desired height, enter it and clear
the Width field. Touch the Calculate button to get the desired
width.
